Business Energy Claims wins back thousands for care home after NRG Corporation guilty of energy mis-selling

A West Midlands care home left out of pocket by a misleading energy broker has won back thousands after Business Energy Claims secured another significant court win.

NRG Corporation Ltd failed to disclose commissions included in a three-year contract which was to be supplied by British Gas to the facility in February 2017.

The care home only discovered the commissions had been added after enlisting the help of Business Energy Claims, the UK’s leading organisation in tackling energy broker mis-selling.

Business Energy Claims director Callum Thompson said: “We are of course delighted to have won back thousands of pounds for our client, who was yet another victim of energy mis-selling we’ve been able to identify.

“Although the outcome was another positive one, it remains infuriating to us that so many businesses are being taken advantage of in this way.

“Energy brokers have a duty to disclose any commissions added to contracts and fully explain how they are being paid so clients are aware of what they are signing up to.

“Sadly, we find that all too many do not do so and this case is just the tip of the iceberg.

“We’re determined to continue helping as many companies as possible to reclaim the money which is rightfully theirs and legitimise the business energy market so that brokers are more transparent when selling energy contracts.

“Our work should not be necessary because businesses should not be misled in this way, but we must continue to do what is right so that brokers are left in no uncertain terms that such practices are unacceptable and will be brought to justice.

“Any business which feels it may have been mis-sold to should contact our dedicated team to see if they have a claim because many of our clients were initially completely unaware they could be due thousands of pounds.”
