Wholesale gas price increases: what will this mean for businesses?

Following recent terrorist activity in Israel, increases to gas and oil prices have led to fears that UK energy bills could rise again.

It is therefore no surprise that, as small and medium businesses across the country are struggling to pay bills, many have concerns that they will be forced to close their doors.

Although this is a particularly troubling time for many business owners, it is estimated that over 2 million UK businesses could be entitled to compensation for energy mis-selling, a potential solution to offset rising costs.

Following the emergence of an energy scandal involving rogue brokers, Newcastle-based, Business Energy Claims is highlighting the need for businesses to question the way in which their energy contracts were sold and handled.

Head of Claims, Hannah Stewart, said: “Many of our clients have expressed to us real concerns around how they will afford their gas and electricity bills in the coming months.

“The majority of our clients had no alternative but to enter into contracts when the market was reaching an unprecedented high and now that these contracts are ending, they are concerned that they will be forced into the exact same situation again and they will be forced to close their businesses as a result.

“It has never been more important for businesses to be fully informed about their energy contracts and to question anything that does not sit right with them as they may have a claim and be owed thousands of pounds.”

Business Energy Claims has a team of energy and legal experts helping businesses to recover hidden commissions and losses from the mis-selling of energy contracts.
