A West Midlands-based Care Home has received thousands from energy broker, Business Save (a subsidiary of Bionic), as a result of a successful court judgement.
The residential home engaged with the UK’s leading organisation in tackling energy broker mis-selling, Business Energy Claims, to establish whether they had been mis-sold to and were able to claim back money owed, providing vital funds to care for some of the area’s most vulnerable.
Business Save, which has now been taken over by one of the largest brokers in the market, Bionic, failed to disclose the commission they had earned within the contracts that they had arranged with Scottish Power.
Research from Business Energy Claims suggests that around three quarters of care homes have been mis-sold to in some way.
Care homes often spend considerable sums on their gas and electricity contracts and are therefore heavily targeted by energy brokers who are able to benefit from higher commissions as a result of their high consumption.
Callum Thompson, managing director at Business Energy Claims, said: “The care industry is vital to support some of the nation’s most vulnerable, so to see such establishments being targeted and taken advantage of is something we are committed to fighting against.”
He added: “We are delighted to have achieved another successful judgement for our clients, further strengthening our mission to not only recover monies owed, but also bring transparency to this unregulated, fast paced industry.”
“This is a multi-billion pound issue affecting businesses across the UK and we would urge any business which has used an energy broker to get in touch.”
“We would welcome any business who has used an energy broker or consultant to contact us. If their fees were not disclosed to them, they may have a potential claim and could recover these sums. We look forward to helping many more businesses in the care home sector.”
Business Energy Claims would like to thank 3volution for their efforts in ensuring another successful court win, moving us one step forward to ensure businesses are better protected.
